Hi everyone, I’m now involved with a new web series that will revive the old Lost in Space franchise. This means that we needed to create a “new” Jupiter 2 that makes some sort of sense. Those of you familiar with the original know quite well that the ship as designed could never house the two decks shown in the TV show. The original ship was only 52 feet in diameter (depending on who you talk.. The Jupiter 2 was acquired directly from 20th Century Fox in the early 1970s by Academy Award-nominated model maker Greg Jein, who carefully restored it to its original LOST IN SPACE configuration. Along with the Jupiter 2 miniature, we are offering the original Launch Pad and Gantries from the pilot episode “No Place to Hide”.

Season 2 At the start of the second season (from this point on filmed in color), the repaired Jupiter 2 launches into space once more, to escape the destruction of Priplanus following a series of cataclysmic earthquakes. The Robinsons crash-land on a strange new world, to become planet-bound again for another season.. In Lost In Space, a ring of lights seemed to flash as the Jupiter 2 was lifting off. The lights seemed to be overcoming a lot of air resistance from the almost plate-shaped top of the ship (see below) How did the propulsion system of the Jupiter 2 work? Both during lift off and also while flying around?
